1. The word "Contentions" is derived from the Greek word "eris"
2. Four Cliques developed at Corinth.
- a) The Paul fan club.
- i) He had Parented them through the gospel.
- ii) He was an Apostle to the Gentiles.
- iii) He bore the Ugly marks of God's Usability.
- iv) He Laboured more than the other apostles.
- b) The Apollos fan club.
- i) He had an Alexandrian education.
- ii) He was a Powerful expositor of the Word.
- iii) He Oozed enthusiasm.
- iv) He Laboured to explain what he understood.
- v) Initially he Lacked a proper understanding of salvation through Jesus.
- vi) He was Open to enlightenment
- vii) He Strengthened new believers and Shared the gospel effectively.
- c) The Cephas fan club
- i) Christ Called him a stone
- ii) He was Emulated by many.
- iii) He was a unique Personality we can all enjoy.
- iv) As a Husband, he had a wife.
- v) He was the first apostle that Christ Appeared to after the resurrection.
- vi) He Seemed to Paul to be a Pillar in the church
